Head of the Jerusalem Committee against Demolition and Displacement Nasser Al-Hadmi said that the escalation of the Israeli demolition policy in Occupied Jerusalem aims to end the battle for Jerusalem.
The demolitions reflect the Israeli racist and retaliatory policies against the Palestinian people in Jerusalem he added.
The demolition policy only aims to limit the Palestinian population and demographic growth in the occupied city Al-Hadmi continued.
He pointed out that between 25000 ad 35000 housing units are built in the eastern part of Jerusalem without a permit as Israeli authorities impose tight restrictions on Palestinian building construction.
Nevertheless the Jerusalemites were able to stay in Jerusalem and build there and remain steadfast on their land he said.
He further pointed out that the Israeli authorities are increasing the burden on Jerusalemites by imposing heavy fines.
Earlier Tuesday the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) demolished two Palestinian-owned houses in Sur Baher town in Jerusalem displacing 13 family members.
House demolitions have been central tools to facilitate Israel’s land appropriation and dispossession in the occupied Palestinian territories.
In 2022 950 Palestinian-owned houses were either demolished or destroyed in the West Bank and Jerusalem at the hands of the IOF. 2290 demolition orders were also issued during the same reported period.
Since 1948 Israeli occupation authorities demolished more than 500 Palestinian villages and towns.
