Sunday 19-March-2023

A Palestinian youth was wounded by Israeli occupation forces (IOF) on Sunday evening after he allegedly carried out a shooting operation south of the West Bank city of Nablus.

According to Shehab News Agency the young man was wounded in an IOF chase that followed his attack in which he fired live bullets at a Jewish settlers’ vehicle in Huwara town.

Hebrew media reported that two Jewish settlers were injured during the attack one seriously wounded in the head adding that the attacker fired 20 live bullets at the vehicle from close range and that he avoided firing at children who happened to be in the car.

A correspondent for the Israeli Kan radio said that the settler who was shot during the attack picked up his gun and fired at the young man hitting him with two bullets before he was later arrested by the IOF.

For his part Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem said that the Huwara shooting operation constitutes a natural response to the escalating IOF crimes the latest of which was the Jenin massacre.

Qassem stressed that the Palestinian people have the right to resist the Israeli occupation by all means possible.

He affirmed that the Palestinian youths will continue to escalate their resistance activities despite the recent security meetings that call for maintaining calm in the region.
