Hundreds of Palestinian citizens in Occupied Jerusalem are at risk of forcible expulsion due to the continued Israeli settlement expansion plans in the Batan al-Hawa neighborhood in Silwan town south of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
At least 87 Palestinian families consisting of more than 700 members live under the threat of forced displacement in favor of settlement expansion plans in the Batan al-Hawa neighborhood according to Zuhair Al-Rajabi head of the neighborhood committee.
Al-Rajabi warned that the Israeli authorities would issue more eviction orders against Palestinian homes in the neighborhood in the holy month of Ramadan adding that his house is among the threatened houses.
He stressed that the Palestinian families in the neighborhood have been threatened with forcible expulsion since 2015 due to claims that their houses were established on lands owned by Jews before 1892.
Last February Israeli bulldozers demolished more than 37 Palestinian buildings in Occupied Jerusalem leaving dozens of Palestinian families without shelter.
