United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process Tor Wennesland expressed his deep concern about the increasing violence of Israeli settlers against Palestinians and their properties.
Wensland’s remarks came during an open session of the UN Security Council held Wednesday.
The UN envoy called on Israel to “immediately and completely cease all settlement activities in the Occupied Palestinian Territory including East Jerusalem and to fully respect all of its legal obligations in this regard.”
Settlement activities have nevertheless continued during the reporting period he added.
He further pointed out that eighty-two Palestinians including one woman and 17 children were killed by Israeli forces since the start of the year.
