The Israeli Prison Service (IPS) transferred on Wednesday morning the leaders of the captive movement’s emergency committee to an unknown location as they prepared for a general hunger strike starting tomorrow.
In a brief statement the captive movement confirmed its decision to go on hunger strike under the slogan “Volcano of Freedom or Martyrdom” strike.
The movement further stressed that the strike would not be stopped until all the prisoners’ demands were met.
The Ministry of Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners condemned the IPS’s decision to transfer and isolate the emergency committee leaders which “aims to disrupt and break the prisoners’ hunger strike.”
The captive movement had earlier declared a set of protest steps in all Israeli prisons last month that included mass disobedience and an open hunger strike next Ramadan.
