Member of the Hamas political bureau abroad Sami Abu Zuhri has said that the forcible expulsion of Muslim worshipers from Al-Aqsa Mosque constitutes a religious war against the Palestinian people and an attempt to change Al-Aqsa’s Islamic identity.
In a press statement on Monday Abu Zuhri underlined that 50000 Palestinian worshippers have performed Tarawih prayer at Al-Aqsa Mosque despite the strict measures imposed on the movement of citizens heading to the Mosque.
“Such Israeli measures constitute a failing attempt to impose the spatial and temporal division on the holy site” Abu Zuhri affirmed adding that continued Palestinian presence in Al-Aqsa courtyards is required.
Abu Zuhri held the Israeli “fascist government” responsible for the repercussions of the repeated attacks against the Muslim worshippers at the Al-Aqsa Mosque during the holy month of Ramadan.
He called on the Arab and Muslim nations to support Palestinian worshippers while they defend the Al-Aqsa Mosque urging the international community to stop the Israeli attacks that violate the Palestinian people’s right to worship.
