FIFA stripped Indonesia of this year’s Under-20 World Cup which was supposed to take place in Indonesia from May 20 to June 11 as a result of Jakarta’s refusal to host Israel’s team.
According to a FIFA release a new host for the World Cup will be announced “as soon as possible with the dates of the tournament currently remaining unchanged.”
FIFA added “Potential sanctions against the country’s football federation (PSSI) may also be decided at a later stage.”
Earlier this month protesters marched in the capital Jakarta waving Indonesian and Palestinian flags and demanding that Israel not be allowed to participate.
