Abdul Salam Haneyya Assistant Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports has condemned FIFA for removing Indonesia as the host of the FIFA Under-20 World Cup 2023.
In a press statement on Thursday Haneyya underlined that the decision came after the governor of the largely Hindu Island of Bali refused to host the Israeli team hailing the position of the Indonesian official in support of the Palestinian people.
Earlier on Wednesday Indonesia was stripped of the right to host the U-20 World Cup only eight weeks before the start of the tournament.
The Indonesian official had called for a ban on the Israeli national team playing in his province in protest against the Israeli participation in the tournament.
