Massive marches held in Iran to mark Int’l Quds Day

Millions of Iranians took to the streets on Friday morning across the country to mark the International Quds Day (Jerusalem Day) in solidarity with the Palestinian people and their national cause.

The pro-Palestine rallies an annual event since Iran’s 1979 Islamic revolution are held on the last Friday of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

The Palestinian Information Center (PIC) reporter in Tehran said that the participants in the marches chanted slogans and carried placards in support of the Palestinian cause and against the Israeli occupation.

A number of senior Iranian military and political officials participated in the marches that were held in the capital. Footage from state television showed massive crowds demonstrating in Tehran while carrying banners and Palestinian and Iranian flags.

The marchers also burned Israeli and US flags and images of Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu while chanting “Death to Israel and America.”

Rallies were held in Tehran and other major Iranian cities including Tabriz in the northwest Hamedan in the west Yazd in the center Bandar Abbas in the south and Abadan in the southwest according to images broadcast live by state television.
