Israeli army terminates commander of Jenin undercover unit

The Israeli occupation army said that the commander in charge of the undercover unit that operates in Jenin was relieved of his duties after an operation to arrest a Palestinian (resistance fighter) failed in April 10.

According to the army radio an operation was carried out last week in Jenin by undercover soldiers from this unit who failed to arrest a wanted Palestinian who fled from the place.

However this wanted man was arrested yesterday (Tuesday) following a military raid in Jenin City and its refugee camp the radio added.

Describing the new Jenin operations as confidential Ynet website affirmed that a gag order was imposed on the publication of their details.

Ynet explained that the terminated officer did not act according to the procedures and orders during the operation and put the lives of soldiers under his command at risk.

In this regard the Israeli border police chief decided to reassign the commander of the undercover unit and his deputy to other duties.

The Israeli occupation forces including undercover soldiers stormed Jenin City on Tuesday encircled a house kidnaped three Palestinian young men confiscated a vehicle and clashed with local youths. Eight citizens were reportedly injured during the events.
