Large numbers of Muslim worshipers performed on Friday morning the Eid al-Fitr prayer at the Ibrahimi Mosque in al-Khalil City.
According to local sources thousands of worshipers flocked into the Mosque for Eid prayers while loudly chanting “Takbeerat al-Eid.”
In press remarks following the Eid prayer al-Khalil mayor Tayseer Abu Sneineh expressed his warmest congratulations to the Palestinians at home and abroad on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.
“This year’s Eid comes in the midst of exceptional circumstances where the blood of the martyrs that water the Palestinian soil has increased and the Israeli aggression has escalated” mayor Abu Sneineh added.
He affirmed that such ongoing Israeli aggression would never dissuade the Palestinian people from upholding their right to establish their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital adding that “the Palestinian people have an unbending will like steel.”
