Member of Hamas’s political bureau Ezzat al-Resheq has categorically denied that Ismail Haneyya the Movement’s political chief made remarks about the detention of Jordanian lawmaker Imad al-Adwan describing what was said in this regard as “fabricated and unfounded.”
“Some [social media) platforms have circulated remarks attributed to Ismail Haneyya head of Hamas’s political bureau regarding the Israeli occupation’s arrest of Jordanian MP Imad al-Adwan” Resheq said in a statement on Monday.
“Haneyya did not make any remarks about this” the Hamas official added.
An anonymous platform on the internet claimed that Haneyya made remarks against Jordan criticizing it following the arrest of MP Imad al-Adwan.
The Hebrew media claimed on Sunday that the Israeli army thwarted what it called smuggling of weapons from Jordan to the occupied West Bank through the Allenby (Karama) border crossing.
12 machineguns and 270 other types of firearms were allegedly found in possession of MP Adwan after searching the car he was driving on the crossing.
