The Israeli Ofer military court on Thursday held a hearing on the issue of the detained Jordanian member of parliament Imad al-Adwan.
Israel detained MP Adwan for a week pending investigation into charges of smuggling a huge amount of arms and gold into the occupied West Bank according to Hebrew media.
For his part lawyer Ismail al-Tawil member of al-Adwan’s defense team underlined that the team had submitted a petition against the Israeli decision to extend Adwan’s detention for 15 days.
Meanwhile Oman and Jordan are working towards an agreement to release MP Adwan as soon as possible according to Okaz an Arabic Saudi Arabian newspaper.
Last Sunday Israel detained MP Adwan claiming that he attempted to smuggle 300 weapons and 100 kilos of gold into the occupied West Bank through the King Hussein Bridge also known as the Allenby Bridge.
