Regional countries and the Arab Parliament have strongly denounced the Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip at dawn Tuesday which claimed the lives of 13 citizens and injured 20 others.
In a statement the Egyptian ministry of foreign affairs expressed its rejection of such Israeli attacks which it described as “violations of the international law” warning that the situation could get out of control in the occupied Palestinian territories as a result of Israel’s practices.
The ministry also condemned all forms of Israeli escalation in the occupied territories including the desecration of the Aqsa Mosque by Jewish settlers and the ongoing military raids on Palestinian cities and towns.
Jordan’s foreign ministry also denounced the new Israeli aggression against Gaza and called for immediate international action to curb it and provide protection for the Palestinian people.
Spokesman for the ministry Sinan Majali warned that Israel’s persistence in its violations against the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem and its military operations in the occupied Palestinian areas could lead to wider cycles of violence.
The spokesman affirmed that Jordan initiated contacts to stop the serious Israeli escalation in Gaza and restore calm.
For its part Iran urged the Islamic countries to take urgent effective and coordinated steps to stop any further attacks against Gaza.
Spokesman for the Iranian foreign ministry Nasser Kanaani also expressed his country’s strong condemnation of the international silence and inaction towards the Israeli attacks on Gaza.
The Turkish foreign ministry for its part slammed the Israeli airstrikes on Gaza as “despicable acts” that cannot be accepted in any way.
The ministry stressed the need for an immediate halt to the Israeli aggression against Gaza before it causes more loss of life and goes into a new spiral of conflict in the region.
The Israeli air raids on Gaza also drew condemnation from the Arab Parliament which described them as “part of the ongoing brutal Israeli practices against the Palestinian people.”
The Arab Parliament appealed to the international community to assume its responsibilities towards the Palestinian people “who demand their legitimate right to an independent state” and work on ending the repeated Israeli attacks on them.
The Arab Parliament accused Israel of refusing to respect and abide by the international resolutions on Palestine and behaving in a way that would lead to more violence and instability in the region.
