The Palestinian Energy and Natural Resources Authority has warned that the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip will deteriorate if the fuel supplies used to operate the power plant run out.
In a statement on Saturday the energy authority said that turbines producing electricity in the Gaza power plant would stop working completely if the available fuel supplies ran out.
“The fuel shipments have stopped entering Gaza since last Tuesday as a result of the Israeli aggression against Gaza and the closure of all crossings so our stock of fuel is about to run out” the energy authority explained.
It affirmed that the current fuel crisis portends a humanitarian catastrophe that would affect vital sectors especially the health services and the supply of electricity and water.
