The Ministry of Public Works and Housing (MoPWH) has revealed that the five-day Israeli aggression launched on the Gaza Strip last May caused the destruction of 3300 housing units and the displacement of 224 families.
In a press conference held by the ministry on Sunday the director general of the MoPWH Mohammed Abboud underlined that the aggression caused complete damage of 120 housing units and partial damage of 120 others adding that the estimated cost to reconstruct these units is ten million USD.
For his part undersecretary of the ministry Jawad al-Agha said that at least 1980 demolished housing units in addition to 90000 partially damaged units have not been restored since 2008.
Al-Agha concluded that there has been a sharp decline in funding for the reconstruction of damaged housing units in the Gaza Strip calling on the donating countries to fulfill their pledges made to support the reconstruction process in the besieged enclave.
