100 American organizations have launched Apartheid-Free Communities’ campaign that aims at ending the United States’ support for Israeli apartheid.
In a statement on Wednesday the Apartheid-Free Communities campaign said that it seeks to build an anti-apartheid movement in North America adding that the campaign is inspired by the anti-apartheid movement that toppled the apartheid regime in South Africa.
The campaign called on faith communities and communities of conscience to “step away from any and all support to Israeli apartheid occupation and settler colonialism” according to its website.
It reiterated its commitment to freedom justice and equality for the Palestinian people and all people in addition to opposing all forms of racism bigotry discrimination and oppression.
“Palestinian people have lived decades of systematic violence and repression due to the Israeli occupation” the campaign affirmed concluding that the Israeli systematic attacks and policies violate the international laws and amount to the crime of apartheid.
Last year Canada launched “Together against Apartheid” initiative to educate and empower people across Canada to end the oppression of the Palestinian people.
