A Palestinian young resistance fighter was killed at dawn Saturday after he opened fire at Israeli soldiers at the Qalandia checkpoint in the northeast of Occupied Jerusalem.
According to the Hebrew media a Palestinian from the West Bank came to the checkpoint and opened fire at Israeli police officers in the area injuring two of them.
The soldiers fired back killing the shooter immediately news reports said.
The shooter reportedly arrived at the checkpoint on foot from the West Bank carrying an M-16 rifle.
The slain young man was identified as Ishaq al-Ajlouni from Kafr Aqab town.
The incident comes amid heightened tensions in the occupied West Bank following a series of deadly Israeli raids and growing settler violence.
