Massive participation in funeral of nine Jenin martyrs

Wednesday 5-July-2023

Several hours after the Israeli occupation forces withdrew from the northern West Bank city of Jenin following two days of military aggression that resulted in the killing of 12 Palestinian citizens and the injury of more than 140 others a massive funeral procession was held for nine of the martyrs today Wednesday in Jenin refugee camp.

The mourners carrying the bodies of nine martyrs moved from outside Jenin Hospital and marched through the city’s streets. Later the martyrs were buried in ash-Shuhada cemetery which sustained considerable damage during the Israeli aggression.

12 Palestinian citizens including five minors were killed during the two-day Israeli aggression in Jenin. Funerals were held for three of them yesterday and today morning.

The Israeli occupation forces started withdrawing last night from the Jenin refugee camp in the occupied West Bank. Hundreds of Israeli troops stormed the camp on Monday and Tuesday in the biggest raid in the territory since the second intifada (uprising) ended in 2005.

In addition to the casualties the Israeli military aggression in Jenin also displaced about 500 families and destroyed homes roads and infrastructure on a large scale.
