A horde of extremist Jewish settlers assaulted on Saturday morning a Palestinian farmer and his wife in Teqoa town east of Bethlehem while Israeli occupation forces (IOF) raided homes in al-Khalil.
Local official Hasan Berejiya said that a number of settlers from a new settlement outpost which was built recently in the area attacked for the second consecutive day 65-year-old farmer Saleem Abd al-Badan and his wife during their presence on their own land where they have been living for many years.
Berejiya added that the settlers tried to set fire to the elderly couple’s tent and harm their sheep before local residents intervened and foiled the attack.
The official accused the Israeli occupation army of colluding with settlers in their attacks against the local residents in order to drive them out of the area.
In a separate incident the IOF broke into and ransacked a number of homes in al-Jabari neighborhood in al-Khalil City.
The IOF also raided homes in Beit Awwa town in the southwest of al-Khalil and detained two citizens from the family of Masalma for several hours before releasing them.
