Dozens of extremist Jewish settlers desecrated the Aqsa Mosque in Occupied Jerusalem under tight police protection on Wednesday morning and later in the afternoon.
According to al-Qastal News website at least 116 settlers entered the Mosque in different groups through its Maghariba Gate and toured its courtyards.
During their tours at the Islamic holy site the settlers received lectures from rabbis about the alleged temple mount and a number of them provocatively performed Talmudic prayers in the Mosque’s eastern area.
Meanwhile the Israeli occupation police imposed movement and entry restrictions on Muslim worshipers at the Aqsa Mosque’s entrances and gates.
The Aqsa Mosque is exposed to daily desecration by Jewish settlers and police forces in the morning and the afternoon except on Fridays and Saturdays.
In another context the Israeli occupation police prevented on Wednesday morning Palestinian workers from finishing restoration and maintenance works at the Aqsa Mosque.
In press remarks Israeli affairs specialist Amjad Shihab affirmed that many of the Aqsa Mosque’s structures and floors need urgent restoration and maintenance works accusing the Israeli occupation of deliberately obstructing the Islamic Awqaf Authority’s efforts to make repairs at the Mosque.
Shihab warned that if there was no serious action to have the Aqsa Mosque renovated more of its stones would fall down especially as a result of the ongoing Israeli underground excavations near and under the foundations of the Mosque.
