Member of Hamas’s political bureau Ali Baraka has warned of an Israeli plan to allow settlers to perform Talmudic rituals at the Aqsa Mosque describing it as a &ldquoserious aggression&rdquo and a &ldquonew escalation of the religious war against the Palestinian holy sites.&rdquo
In press remarks on Wednesday Baraka said that the accelerating developments at the Aqsa Mosque are part of the Israeli efforts to divide the Aqsa Mosque temporally and spatially between Muslims and Jews.
Baraka stressed the need for urgent Arab and Islamic steps to protect the Aqsa Mosque against further settler violations which he said are backed by the Israeli occupation government and its police apparatus.
The Hamas official expressed his belief that the Palestinian people would continue to defend the Aqsa Mosque regardless of the sacrifices adding that the ongoing resistance operations are &ldquolegitimate and natural responses to the persistent Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people their land and holy sites.&rdquo
He called on the Palestinian political forces the concerned Arab and Islamic organizations and the international community to take urgent action against the Israeli police’s intent to allow Jewish settlers to perform all their rituals and prayers publicly and collectively at the Aqsa Mosque.
