The Hamas Movement has condemned the release of the Jewish settler who killed 19-year-old Qusai Maatan in the occupied West Bank saying such a step reflected the complicity of the Israeli judicial system in protecting Jewish murderers and terrorists.
&ldquoThe Israeli occupation’s court decision to release one of the settlers who killed martyr Qusai Maatan during a terrorist attack launched recently by a horde of settlers with the support of the army on Burqa village in eastern Ramallah is considered a judicial acknowledgment that Israeli courts support the terrorism of murderous settler militias cover up their crimes protect them from accountability and encourage them to persist in their violations against our defenseless Palestinian people&rdquo Hamas said in a statement on Wednesday.
The Movement also described Israeli courts as &ldquoone of the tools used by the Israeli occupation state to terrorize the Palestinian people&rdquo describing the court order to release the settler as &ldquofascist&rdquo.
It stressed that such criminal measures would only be met with more Palestinian steadfastness and resistance against Israeli forces and settlers.
An Israeli court on Tuesday ordered the release of Elisha Yered the settler who shot dead Qusai Maatan last Friday.
The judge stated during the hearing that in her view there was no substantial evidence gathered thus far to establish reasonable suspicion of Yered’s involvement in the killing of the Palestinian teenager.
