The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) is planning to establish a new industrial zone called Sha&rsquoar Shomron on Palestinian lands west of the West Bank.
Sha&rsquoar Shomron is expected to become the largest industrial zone in the West Bank as it will be established on 2700 dunums of Palestinian lands.
The plan for establishing Sha&rsquoar Shomron was deposited at the Higher Planning Committee two months ago.
The Israeli government had allocated a billion shekels in favor of building new settlement units in several areas of the West Bank in addition to expanding illegal settlements in the Dead Sea areas Jordan Valley and south of al-Khalil.
Minister of Finance Bezalel Smotrich and Minister of “National Missions” and Settlements Orit Stork proposed the plan which aims at encouraging Jewish settlers to live in the West Bank.
Meanwhile Palestinian activists renewed calls on the Palestinian people to escalate their resistance activities and confront the Israeli settlement expansion plans by all means possible.
