4 Palestinian prisoners continue their hunger strike in Israeli jails

Wednesday 30-August-2023

Four Palestinian prisoners are engaged in an open hunger strike in protest against their administrative detention in Israeli jails.

The Palestinian prisoners Kayed Al-Fasfous and Sultan Khalouf have been continuing their hunger strike for 28 days and Abd al-Rahman Baraqah for 21 days in protest against their administrative detention.

Maher al-Akhras has been on hunger strike for eight days in rejection of his illegal administrative detention.

Administrative detention is ordered by the Israeli military commander on the basis of an alleged “secret file”. Under administrative detention policy a prisoner is held without charge or trial for up to 6 months which can be renewed.

There are currently 4900 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails including 1200 administrative detainees.
