A general strike was declared in a number of schools in Jabal Mukaber town in Occupied Jerusalem on Saturday the first day of the new school year.
The strike came in protest at the Israeli municipality’s arbitrary measures against Palestinian students.
The Central Parents Committee of Jabal Mukaber Schools affirmed that the strike will continue until their demands are met mainly transferring the students of Al-Sawahra Secondary School for Boys to the Ibn Al-Haytham Preparatory School building in the Wadi Al-Hummus area and transferring the students of the Ibn Al-Haytham Preparatory School for Boys to the new building located in the Al-Jaabis neighborhood and providing transportation for the students after the transport company refused to transport the students.
Earlier Hamas Movement accused the Israeli occupation state of waging a ferocious war on all aspects of the Jerusalemite citizens&rsquo lives and threatening their identity existence and right to their holy city.
Hamas spokesman Mohamed Hamada said that &ldquoin addition to its war on the Aqsa Mosque and the Jerusalemite neighborhoods the occupation state launched a war on the Palestinian educational sector in the holy city.&rdquo
Hamada said that the occupation state seeks to Israelize Palestinian education in an attempt to change the awareness of generations and works on reducing the quality of the educational service Jerusalemite children and young people receive in order to force them to stop going to their schools.
