A rapid response delegation from Palestine will soon arrive in Morocco in the aftermath of the tragic earthquake that hit the country Friday night.
According to WAFA news agency the Palestinian Authority has announced that it will send on Sunday evening rescue medical and civil defense teams to Morocco to provide all possible assistance.
The Palestinian International Cooperation Agency said that the delegation would include 24 members from different teams including 10 doctors and 10 rescuers adding that they would stay in Morocco for at least seven days.
The delegation is composed of experienced personnel who have previously engaged in similar missions such as the earthquake relief efforts in Turkiye and Syria earlier this year.
The 6.8-magnitude quake struck a mountainous area that is located 72 kilometers (45 miles) southwest of the tourist hotspot Marrakesh at 23:11 local time (22:11 GMT) on Friday the US Geological Survey said.
Strong tremors were also felt in the coastal cities of Rabat Casablanca and Essaouira.
Moroccans are mourning the victims of the devastating earthquake that has killed more than 2012 people as rescue teams race to find survivors trapped in the rubble of flattened villages.
At least 2059 people have also been injured in the strongest-ever quake to hit the country in decades many of them critically.
