Number of Jewish settlers increased sevenfold since Oslo Accords

The population of Jewish settlers has increased sevenfold in Area C of the West Bank since the Oslo Accords.

According to a report issued by the National Office for the Land Defense and Settlement Resistance 500000 Jewish settlers currently live in the West Bank while 250000 others live in Jerusalem.

The report underlined that the number of Jewish settlers in the West Bank was 115000 when the Oslo agreement was signed in 1993.

&ldquoThe Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich advanced a settlement plan that aims at establishing dozens of settlement units in addition to legalizing 155 settlement outposts&rdquo the report indicated.

It added that the Higher Planning Committee approved several settlement projects such as establishing a settlement neighborhood and enhancing the Light Rail networks in Jerusalem in addition to building a new settlement in the West Bank.

Since the beginning of the current year the Israeli government has built 12885 new settlement units in several areas of the West Bank.
