Gaza: Dialysis centers to stop providing services soon

Wednesday 20-September-2023

The health ministry in Gaza has warned anew that its dialysis centers in hospitals will stop providing services for kidney failure patients within a few days due to an acute and unprecedented shortage of medical consumables.

&ldquoToday we are standing again to tell the entire world about the muffled cries of pain in the midst of another difficult and serious scene of the crisis of medical supplies that continues to afflict the health sector and increase the suffering of Gaza patients who may not have a chance to survive&rdquo a spokesperson told a news conference on Wednesday.

The spokesperson reiterated the ministry’s recent appeal for urgent help to save 1100 kidney failure patients including 38 children after its stores ran out of treatment kits.

He said that all medical consumables for dialysis services including blood filters cannulas and blood tubes had almost run out.

He explained that the ministry provides more than 13000 dialysis sessions for patients with kidney failure in its hospitals every month which requires providing more than 13000 filters 13000 blood tubes and 26000 blood cannulas per month.
