A Palestinian young man was wounded and detained on Thursday afternoon after he struck an Israeli police officer with his car and moderately injured him at the Qalandia checkpoint northeast of Occupied Jerusalem.
According to the Hebrew media a 38-year-old Kfar Aqab resident driving a car stopped at the crossing to enter Jerusalem but when a police officer approached him the driver swerved into another lane and struck another policeman.
Media reports said that Israeli policemen at the checkpoint opened fire at the car and wounded the driver before detaining him.
Following the incident the Israeli occupation police closed the Qalandia checkpoint in both directions.
