The Israeli health ministry said on Sunday that the death toll from the massive military operation launched by Hamas climbed to at least 700 people while 2156 others were injured some seriously.
Late on Saturday a spokesperson for the Israeli occupation army announced the death of the commanding officer of the Nahal infantry brigade Jonathan Steinberg during clashes with al-Qassam fighters in the Karm Abu Salem area near the border with Gaza.
An interactive map published by Al Jazeera satellite channel on Saturday showed the most prominent Israeli points that were targeted yesterday by al-Qassam Brigades fighters including in Sderot Zikim Netivot Kissufim and Eshkol.
Al-Qassam Brigades fighters also fired on Saturday and Sunday thousands of rockets at Israeli cities.
