Obviously the Israeli occupation state has failed miserably at the military and security levels and this failure has become recently an object of sarcasm ridicule and severe criticism even from its closest allies and the &ldquoWestern media system&rdquo &mdash which is generally known for having a pro-Israeli bias.
They (pro-Israel allies and Western media) all wondered where Israel’s military and security system was gone and why its forces disappeared and failed to face al-Qassam Brigades fighters.
Military and security experts still have no answer to such questions that have been raised by mainstream media outlets except that they opined that what happened as abject failure and cowardice hidden behind fortresses.
The French newspaper Le Figaro said that the high-tech steel wall which Israel had built along the border with the Gaza Strip between 2018 and 2021 at an extravagant cost seemed to be very fragile in front of al-Qassam fighters although 140000 tons of iron and steel had been used to build it at a cost of over one billion dollars. It is a distillation of technological innovation fully equipped with radars and sensors above and below ground.
Recently Alain Gresh director of Orient XXI (French online magazine) said &ldquoIsrael was shaken by the horror of what happened&rdquo and stressed that the Palestinian people have &ldquostubborn and invincible fortitude&rdquo and that their &ldquosteadfastness have astonished the occupiers and stunned many Westerners.&rdquo
Surprisingly Israel has covered up its failure by hiding behind the Western and American powers and the launch of aerial attacks on homes of civilians and children in the Gaza Strip while its soldiers are evading direct confrontation on the battlefield.
&ldquoEvery time the Palestinians rise up the West invokes the rhetoric of terrorism even though it is the West that does not hesitate to glorify the resistance of the Ukrainians&rdquo Gresh stated.
He criticized French president Emmanuel Macron for his strong condemnation of what he called terrorist attacks on Israel without saying a word about the ongoing Israeli occupation of Palestine &ldquowhich is the source of the violence.&rdquo
Israel brazenly practices lying and deception and repeatedly contradicts itself and the narratives it fabricates and promotes depending on the audience it addresses and the goals it seeks to achieve. In the meantime the Western media systematically races to adopt the stories told by Israel without scrutiny or deliberation despite the presence of hundreds of verification methods and modern artificial intelligence tools that can definitively prove the falsehood of any Israeli narrative. The Western media also refrains from talking about those parties that are involved in and whitewash Israel’s crimes and provide it with unlimited military financial and political support.
Noted US philosopher and academic Noam Chomsky says that we can place the process of producing and circulating false and misleading news into a group of strategies the first of which is &ldquosocial control&rdquo which means controlling the content circulating in the mass media space and deceiving public opinion.
Chomsky adds that propaganda can be used to launch counterattacks on true narratives by criticizing them and questioning their credibility publishing opposing narratives more intensively or even diverting public attention from the main subject of the event itself and publishing news related to completely different issues in order to distract the public from the real social problem.
This is what Israel and its mass media machine do &mdash producing lies and more lies and finding people who can believe them. However Israel’s confusion and failure are not only confined to military and security problems but has been extended to the media and public opinion too. When Israel found that its internal front was cracking and at its lowest levels it resorted to releasing some videos for its audience to calm them down showing how al-Qassam fighters dealt humanely with Israeli children and civilians. It did so to save the internal front from disintegrating.
However the Palestinian resistance picked up on this and released many other videos in its possession to prove further how they treated children and women humanely which made this fact spread across the world and pushed Israel into releasing opposing narratives and launching disinformation campaigns to discredit the resistance so it embarked on blaming the resistance for its dirty work by accusing its fighters of targeting civilians and children during the first days of Operation Al-Aqsa Flood.
It is worth mentioning that Israel had killed 35 Palestinian children last year and 38 others from the beginning of the current year to the end of last month (before the current war).
A response to the false Israeli claims against the Palestinian resistance came on Wednesday from Israeli journalist Oren Ziv on social media. &ldquoI&rsquom getting a lot of questions about the reports of &lsquoHamas beheaded babies&rsquo that were published after the media tour in the village. During the tour we didn&rsquot see any evidence of this and the army spokesperson or commanders also didn&rsquot mention any such incidents&rdquo he said.
The journalist expressed his regret that Israel would now use these false allegations as pretexts to escalate its bombing of Gaza.
