Head of the Government Media Office in Gaza Salama Marouf said in a press statement on Wednesday that the “Israeli Nazi air strikes on the Al-Maghazi bakery is a continuation of the genocide against our people.”
Marouf explained that the bakery had been supplied with flour hours earlier by the UNRWA to supply tens of thousands of camp residents and those displaced there. The missiles completely destroyed the bakery and left a large hole in its place in addition to demolishing a number of homes surrounding the bakery in the center of Al-Maghazi refugee camp killing 10 and injuring dozens.
“This new crime which is completely consistent with the behavior of this criminal occupier from the beginning of its aggression provides new evidence of the occupation’s lies about the nature of its targeting of the Gaza Strip. We have seen dozens of other instances of these air strikes deliberately targeting gatherings of citizens at bakeries in markets and even inside hospitals or churches such as what happened in the massacre of the Al-Ahli Al-Arabi Hospital and the Greek Orthodox Church” he said.
“This is a crime through which the occupation seeks to raise the human cost of the victims of this genocide and to exacerbate the catastrophic humanitarian reality that our people are experiencing under the tight siege and the prevention of all basic needs and necessities of life” he added.
Earlier on Tuesday evening Marouf said that Israeli warplanes have dropped more than 12000 tons of explosives on the Gaza Strip since Oct. 7th. Their explosive force is equivalent to the nuclear bomb dropped on Hiroshima in Japan in 1945.
“An average of 33 tons of explosives were dropped per square kilometer on the Palestinian enclave since Israel started its aggression” he added.
In a press conference on the daily toll of the ongoing Israeli Nazi aggression on the besieged Gaza Strip for 18 consecutive days Marouf reported that the martyrs’ toll amounted to 5791 including 2360 children 1292 women and 295 elderly people in addition to 1550 missing under the rubble and 16297 injuries.
The number of the displaced people has jumped to 1400000 citizens representing 70 percent of the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip distributed to 222 shelters with 100 shelters in Central and Northern Gaza Marouf pointed out.
Around 644 Nazi Israeli massacres have been committed against the Palestinian families causing damage to over 183000 housing units (50 percent of houses in the besieged Gaza Strip) whereas 28000 units have been totally damaged and 75 government offices and dozens of public and service facilities were severely destroyed.
The Israeli airstrikes also caused damage to 177 schools including 32 schools that have been out of service amid bombardment targeting electricity and sewage networks that ousted them from service in addition to bombing churches and mosques resulting in a complete damage to 35 mosques and severe damage to 3 churches.
“There is obvious evidence that Israeli army uses unconventional and internationally banned weapons and ammunition most notably white phosphorus which is clearly evident in the burns on the bodies of the martyrs and the wounded and their melted skin upper and lower limbs” Marouf stressed.
“These crimes raise once again the question about the role of the international community and the United Nations organizations that were unable to stop the aggression and put an end to this genocide and have also failed to provide the necessary humanitarian supplies to hundreds of thousands of displaced people in shelter centers” he added.
Marouf also denounced the Western media coverage of the Israeli aggression which take the side of Israel which is savagely murdering civilians in Gaza mostly children women and the elderly.
He renewed his call for the necessity of opening the Rafah border crossing permanently in order to allow the entry of life supplies and humanitarian aid especially fuel medications and food.
