Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Saturday called on Israel to “immediately stop this madness” and end its “attacks” on targets in Gaza after Israeli forces intensified strikes on the Palestinian territory.
“The Israeli bombardments on Gaza intensified last night and once again targeted women children and innocent civilians worsening the ongoing humanitarian crisis” Erdogan said on X formerly known as Twitter.
“Israel must immediately stop this madness and end its attacks” he added.
Erdogan also encouraged a heavy turnout for a rally in support of Palestinians in Istanbul on Saturday organized by his AKP party which could see around one million people attend.
The Gaza Strip has been under intense bombardment that has been relentlessly carried out since Friday evening described as the toughest of its kind since the start of the Israeli aggression 22 days ago. The ongoing attacks have been carried out after completely cutting off internet and communication between Gaza and the outside world.
More than 7700 people have been killed since the start of the Israeli aggression including about 3000 children.
