IOF arrests 55 Palestinians in the West Bank

Israeli occupation forces (IOF) launched at dawn Tuesday a large-scale arrest campaign in the West Bank in which IOF soldiers apprehended at least 55 Palestinians as part of the Israeli continued systematic detention campaigns against the Palestinian people. 

The Palestinian Prisoner Society said in a press statement that the arrest campaigns were intensively carried out in the West Bank provinces of al-Khalil and Ramallah while the rest of apprehensions took place across other West Bank cities.

The statement highlighted that the arrests have affected all society segments including women children elderly and former prisoners. 

In al-Khalil the IOF soldiers stormed and wreaked havoc inside Palestinian houses attacked residents and took measurements of the houses of the Palestinian activists and former prisoners in preparation for their demolition.

Local sources reported that one Palestinian youth was killed and 7 others got injured during clashes that erupted in various towns of al-Khalil one of them in serious condition. 

The IOF arrested 25 Palestinians in al-Khalil including two brothers one of them works as a journalist from their houses after assaulting some of them the sources added.

In Bethlehem the IOF arrested four Palestinians including two brothers one of them is 15 years old after storming and searching their houses.

In Ramallah seven Palestinians including a formerly detained woman were rounded up after breaking into their homes and wreaking havoc inside them. As a result clashes broke out across Ramallah resulting in injuries one of the cases was critical.

In Jericho the IOF stormed al-Oja town in addition to two refugee camps of Aqabat Jabr and Ain al-Sultan before arresting three youths one of them is 19 years old.

In Jenin three Palestinians were arrested including the father of an ex-prisoner who was detained to pressure his son to give himself in. Clashes also erupted after IOF soldiers raided Jenin city and its refugee camp leading to the injury of two youths with live bullets. Local sources reported that the IOF deployed its snipers on rooftops of some houses called on reinforcements and special forces who broke into the city and camp’s neighborhoods while being escorted by bulldozers which knocked down roads and infrastructure. 

In occupied Jerusalem Israeli police raided Shufat refugee camp and arrested 10 Palestinians. The forces also stormed Abu Dis town and arrested four Palestinian journalists. 

This brings the tally of the arrested West Bankers who have been detained since October 7 to 2200. 

The total number of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails has climbed to 7000 including 62 female prisoners and 2070 administrative detainees.
