The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) called for the urgent opening of the Kerem Abu Salem crossing in order to provide humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip
“Life in Gaza will stop if Israel continues to not allow the entry of fuel” said UNRWA’s spokesman Adnan Abu Hasna on Sunday.
He further stressed that “more than two million Palestinians are in need of urgent aid and UNRWA is unable to meet their needs.”
“The Kerem Abu Salem crossing must be opened as the aid entering through the Rafah crossing is insufficient” he clarified highlighting “the necessity of respecting the laws of war which include protecting civilians and bringing in aid.”
Abu Hasna predicted that “more UNRWA employees will be killed” as a result of “the ongoing Israeli bombing in all areas of the Gaza Strip” stressing that “there is no safe place in Gaza and the United Nations flag is no longer protected.”
“It has never happened that 100 UN employees have been killed in less than a month. We do not want to collapse” he said.
For the 37th consecutive day Israel’s massive carnage continues to claim more lives in the Gaza Strip as its army persists in targeting civilians systematically. More than 11100 people have been killed so far including more than 8000 children and women.
