The Hamas Movement announced on Sunday that its armed wing al-Qassam Brigades released an Israeli captive with Russian citizenship.
On its Telegram account Hamas said that the Russian citizen was released in response to Russian president Vladimir Putin’s efforts and in gratitude for Moscow’s position in support of the Palestinian cause.
Al-Qassam Brigades for its part confirmed in Telegram remarks that the detainee had been handed over to a Red Cross team after the Russian president intervened for his release.
