Gaza Municipality said that the Israeli bombing of Gaza’s Central Archives Building has caused a major fire within the main Municipality headquarters in Palestine Square. Thousands of historical documents on the structure of the city and the stages of its urban development were damaged, it added.
The municipality mentioned in a statement on Wednesday that the Israeli deliberate targeting of civil and service facilities is a blatant violation of international humanitarian law, calling on the international community to shoulder its responsibility and to put an end to Israel’s targeting of civilians and civil institutions.
The Israeli vicious aggression on Gaza City has destroyed various aspects of civil life by the destruction of many of its service facilities, leading to a humanitarian catastrophe in the city as well as various regions of the Gaza Strip.
Since October 7, Israel has waged a massive aggression on the Gaza Strip, destroying nearly 300,000 residential units, killing more than 15,000 citizens, the majority of whom were children and women, and injuring more than 36,000 others.
