Many British cities witnessed on Saturday dozens of demonstrations in solidarity with Palestine to demand an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and to stop targeting hospitals, schools housing displaced persons, ambulances and civilians.
In response to the call of organizations standing with Palestine, most notably: the Palestinian Forum in Britain, the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, the Friends of Al-Aqsa Organization, the Muslim Association in Britain, the “Stop the War” coalition, and the “Stop Nuclear Weapon” coalition, the demonstrations were organized in various cities in the United Kingdom.
Vice President of the Palestinian Forum in Britain, Adnan Hmidan, called on the free and honorable people in Britain to continue demonstrating and expressing various forms of solidarity in order to reach a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and to put pressure on Rishi Sunak’s government and the British Parliament to adopt that.
“We see the Israeli occupation returning to its habit of targeting children and civilians, destroying health and service facilities and seeking to forcibly displace the population of the Gaza Strip”, he added.
Hmidan added, “We are moving today, in cooperation with our partners in the Palestine Solidarity Alliance in Britain, with local demonstrations and events in various cities, and we are preparing for a major national demonstration next Saturday. We will continue our civil movement and work with various parties until this aggression against Gaza stops, the siege is lifted, and Palestine lives the freedom it wants.”
Hmidan concluded by reminding officials in Britain and everywhere that history does not have mercy and records in the list of shame the names of all those who contribute to the “ongoing crimes against the Palestinian people, through their unlimited support for Israel, encouraging its violations of international law, and providing it with money and weapons to continue the crime of genocide, collective punishment, and ethnic cleansing in Gaza and the rest of Palestine.”
