The Hamas Movement has slammed the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) Chief Prosecutor Karim Khan over his visit to Israel on Sunday to inspect October 7 attack sites, without bothering to visit the Gaza Strip and listen to the other party.
Hamas denounced, in a statement on Monday, Khan’s visit, saying that it contradicts the minimum requirements of justice and judicial procedures.
Hamas condemned in the strongest terms the statements of Karim Khan and his bias towards the false and misleading Israeli narrative.
The statement also denounced Khan for ignoring hundreds of calls from lawyers and human rights organizations around the world, asking him to go to the Gaza Strip in order to get acquainted with the reality of the ethnic cleansing and systematic genocidal war committed by the neo-Nazis against children and defenseless civilians.
Human rights organizations had previously denounced Khan’s visit to Israel and his refusal to open an inquiry into Israeli war crimes committed in Gaza.
Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor said it was shocked at Khan’s insistence on not taking any serious action for what is going on in Palestine, especially in the besieged Gaza Strip, describing his position as part of the Western double-standard political policy.
Khan, who took office in June 2021, adopted the approach of limiting “priority” to issues referred by the UN Security Council such as Darfur and Libya, and on the other hand downplaying other issues that the court was already investigating, such as Palestine and Afghanistan.
