Armed clashes and confrontations erupted Wednesday morning in Balata refugee camp east of the West Bank city of Nablus after it was stormed by Israeli occupation forces (IOF).

Local sources said that Israeli special forces infiltrated Balata camp and besieged a house, leading to the outbreak of armed clashes with resistance fighters who attacked an IOF bulldozer with explosive devices. Israeli military reinforcements were later sent to the camp.

Clashes were also reported at the IOF withdrawal from the camp, resulting in severe injury of three Palestinians who were shot by IOF gunfire during the clashes. They were transferred to Rafidiya Hospital.

Medical sources revealed that a 25-year-old young man was shot in the waist and another man was shot in the head and that his injury was critical.

The IOF deployed more military reinforcements escorted by two bulldozers and started leveling up roads in the camp, as part of its policy of infrastructure destruction in the West Bank especially refugee camps in Jenin, Tulkarem and Nablus.
