Families from Gaza, represented by the Palestinian Forum in Britain (PFB), gathered in London today to voice their distress over the relentless attacks on Gaza by the Israeli military. The organized protest sought to spotlight the urgent humanitarian crisis and appeal to the UK government for immediate intervention.
Spokesperson Ibrahim Khadra, representing the families of Gaza, declared, “This is not the second Nakba. The first Nakba never ended. It’s an ongoing catastrophe, and its atrocities are being replayed on an unprecedented scale in Gaza.”
With a heavy heart, Khadra continued, “We are speaking of probably more than 20,000 murdered people in just eight weeks. Hundreds, if not thousands, are likely still trapped under the rubble: hospitals, schools, mosques, churches—no places are safe in Gaza.”
Questioning the tactics employed by the Israeli military, Khadra asked, “How is it possible that the Israeli military owns one of the most sophisticated war technologies in the world but is unable to locate Hamas militants? Why does Israel not clearly define its targets to spare civilians? Isn’t this what they keep stating?”
Amidst the sorrow and desperation, Khadra implored the international community to act immediately, stating, “We, the families of Gaza, must raise our collective voice, stand in solidarity with innocent lives, and insist on an immediate ceasefire on human rights and humanitarian grounds. The time for action is now. Ceasefire now.”
In a separate speech, Lujain Abdullah, speaking on behalf of the PFB, expressed gratitude, saying, “Peace be upon you and peace be upon a land created for peace but never witnessed a day of peace. Thank you for standing in solidarity with the Palestinian cause.”
Abdullah passionately declared, “My people need you. Your unconditional support has met vulgar brutality with heartwarming humanity. Your voice is keeping Palestine alive, putting pressure on governments to take action. You will change the course of history until our Palestine is free from occupation.”
She concluded with a powerful call to action: “Don’t let anyone tell you that to love Palestinians is to hate someone else. We love our Jewish brothers and sisters. We stand together against anti-Semitism with them.”
The Coalition expressed gratitude for the unwavering support during the protest, emphasizing the crucial role of individuals in amplifying the Palestinian voice. The families and individuals concluded the event with a renewed commitment to continue the struggle for justice and liberation.
