The prime ministers of Spain, Ireland, Belgium and Malta has urged the European Union (EU) to call for a permanent humanitarian truce ending the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip.
In a joint letter to the EU, the prime ministers stressed the seriousness of the Israeli war on Gaza, warning that the conflict could escalate and spread throughout the region.
They called on the EU leaders to necessarily reach a common position demanding a permanent humanitarian ceasefire that could lead to an end to the fighting in Gaza and immediate measures protecting the civilians.
The four countries, which condemned Israel for its war on Gaza, also called for holding an international peace conference as soon as possible to discuss the establishment of a Palestinian state alongside the Israeli state.
They stressed the need to freeze the assets of Jewish settlers who launch attacks on Palestinians in order to prevent the spread of violence in the occupied West Bank.
