Israeli occupation police conditionally released on Sunday Sheikh Ekrima Sabri, head of the Higher Islamic Council in Occupied Jerusalem and Al- Aqsa Mosque preacher, after interrogating him for three hours in Room 4 in Al-Moskobiya detention center in Occupied Jerusalem.

Sheikh Sabri’s lawyer Khaled Zabarqa said, in a press release, that the Israeli police released Sheikh Sabri on a media ban condition, ordering him not to speak to four satellite channels for 14 days: al-Aqsa, al-Alam, al-Manar and al-Mayadeen.

Zabarqa explained that Israeli intelligence agents interrogated Sheikh Sabri about his sermon on Friday December 1 in Al-Aqsa Mosque regarding the exchange of prisoners. He answered the officers by saying, “Our Islamic religion urges us to exchange prisoners, which is a humanitarian and civilized act,” he added.

He pointed out that Israeli officers questioned Sabri about Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq’s message calling for the prohibition of killing children and women and demolishing worship places, in addition to the issue of Al-Aqsa Mosque and the problems caused by Jewish settlers when they storm the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

On Tuesday, Sheikh Sabri was handed a summons for interrogation in Al-Maskobiyya Center, west of Occupied Jerusalem by Israeli occupation intelligence officers who stormed Sabri’s house on December 4 and handed him a renewal order of his travel ban for a month.

On December 3, Jerusalem municipality decided to demolish the residential building in Al-Suwana neighborhood in Al-Tur where Sheikh Sabri resides.

Sheikh Sabri, who is 85 years old, has recently been subjected to a systematic incitement campaign by Israeli occupation authorities.
