Israel has intensified its assault on the Gaza Strip, killing more than 250 people and injuring 500 others in a wave of strikes over 24 hours, the Palestinian Health Ministry said on Monday evening.
Spokesman for the ministry Dr. Ashraf Al-Qudra reported that the death toll of the 80-day Israeli aggression on Gaza had risen to 20,674 martyrs and 54,536 wounded.
311 health personnel were killed and 102 ambulances were destroyed during the attacks, he added.
Al-Qudra pointed out that 141 health institutions were targeted while 23 hospitals and 53 health centers become out of service.
The health ministry pointed out that Israel is still detaining 99 health personnel from the Gaza Strip, including the directors of hospitals in northern Gaza, Dr. Muhammad Abu Salmiya, Dr. Ahmed Al-Kahlot, and Dr. Ahmed Muhanna, in inhumane conditions and subject them to severe torture and abuse.
The Israeli occupation left 800,000 people without health services in northern Gaza, including pregnant women, patients and infants, he added.
The occupancy rate in hospitals in the entire south has reached 350%, and hundreds of wounded are sleeping on the floor in the operations departments.
The health ministry further pointed out that there are 900,000 children in shelter centers amid very catastrophic humanitarian conditions.
The Palestinian Health Ministry called on all institutions to “work immediately to provide medicine and fuel supplies needed to operate the Al-Shifa Medical Complex, and to establish field hospitals all over the Gaza Strip.”
Since Oct. 7, the Israeli occupation army has launched a bloody aggression on the Gaza Strip, causing a severe humanitarian and health catastrophe.
