Israeli occupation forces (IOF) carried out over last night and Monday morning a large-scale arrest campaign that rounded up at least 40 Palestinians including former detainees.
Palestinian Prisoners Society said, in a statement on Monday, that most of the arrests were carried out in Bethlehem, in addition to Ramallah, Qalqilya, Nablus, Al-Khalil, Jenin, and Occupied Jerusalem. Large-scale raids and field investigations were also reported, the Society added.
The statement referred to Israeli continued violations against Palestinian detainees and their families including “systematic practices of abuse, assaults, severe beating, and threats, in addition to widespread sabotage and home destruction, and confiscation of property.”
“The tally of arrests since October 7 has mounted to about 5,730. They were carried out in Palestinian homes and at military checkpoints, in addition to the arrest of those who turned themselves in to the IOF under threat and those who were held hostage,” the statement added.
It also highlighted that “the IOF has arrested at least 230 Palestinians since the beginning of this year.”
“The ongoing and escalating arrest campaigns in an unprecedented manner come as part of the Israeli massive and punitive measures against Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, following October 7,” the Society concluded.
