Thousands of Moroccans participated in protests in several cities after the Friday prayer to condemn the ongoing Israeli war on the Gaza Strip and carrying the slogan ‘No to the displacement of Palestinians’.

Participants in the protests organized by the Moroccan Organization for Supporting the Issues of the Nation praised South Africa, which filed a lawsuit before the International Court of Justice to prosecute Israel for charges of ‘genocide’ against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

Among the cities that witnessed protests were Rabat, Nador, Zayou, Casablanca, Meknes (north), Ait Melloul (central), and El Jadida (west).

The participants in these protests raised banners supporting Palestinian resistance, the resilience of the people, and chanted slogans rejecting the displacement of Palestinians from their land.

The Authority organized the protests for the 14th consecutive Friday since the beginning of Israel’s war on the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023.

On an almost daily basis, many Moroccan cities, including Rabat, witness large gatherings to express solidarity with the Palestinian people and demand an end to Israeli airstrikes on Gaza, lifting the blockade, and providing assistance.

Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli army has been waging a destructive war on Gaza, resulting in, until Friday, 23,708 martyrs and 60,005 injured, mostly children and women, and massive destruction in infrastructure and an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe, according to the authorities in the enclave and the United Nations.

The International Court of Justice in The Hague, the highest legal body under the United Nations, held its sessions on Thursday and Friday to consider the lawsuit filed by South Africa against Israel, on charges of committing genocide in its war on the Gaza Strip.

Israel rejected the accusation of committing ‘genocide’ against the Palestinians and claimed that what it is doing in the Gaza Strip is ‘self-defense’.
