The Hamas senior official, Musa Abu Marzouk, affirmed on Wednesday that Hamas has outlined several conditions for providing medicine to captives held in Gaza after a request from the Red Cross.
In a post on X, Abu Marzouk said “These conditions include delivering a thousand boxes of medicine to the Palestinian people for every box intended for each captive, through a trusted intermediary country.”
He explained that Hamas also insisted on placing medicine in four Gaza hospitals, covering all areas, including the types of medication allocated for prisoners, with no inspection by the Israeli occupation army. Additionally, Hamas requested more aid and food for the besieged Gaza Strip which has been under Israeli bloody aggression for 103 days.
The Hamas official highlighted that while France sought medicine provision, Hamas declined the offer due to distrust in the French government for its support for the Israeli aggression and its stance against the Palestinian people’s aspirations for freedom and return. Instead, Hamas approached Qatar for medicine provision, and Qatar responded positively.
Abu Marzouk accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of telling lies, asserting that Hamas is the party who determined the deal mediator and medicine quantity, distribution, and delivery to northern Gaza despite the Israeli objection and refusal for 100 days.
Earlier on Wednesday, Qatar announced that the Israeli government and Hamas Movement have reached an agreement to allow medicines to be delivered to Israeli captives held in the Gaza Strip and for aid to be transported to residents in the war-torn Palestinian territory.
Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed Al-Ansari confirmed, on X, the entry of medicines and aid into the Gaza Strip, in implementation of the agreement announced on Tuesday for the benefit of civilians in the Strip.
The deal will see humanitarian aid delivered to civilians in “the most affected and vulnerable areas” in Gaza in exchange for the delivery of medication to Israeli captives held by al-Qassam Brigades of Hamas, Hamas and Qatar’s ministry of foreign affairs said in statements on Tuesday.
Al-Ansari pointed out that Qatar “continues, with its regional and international partners, the mediation efforts at political and humanitarian levels.”
Earlier, the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the arrival of two Qatari Armed Forces planes to the Egyptian city of Al-Arish, carrying aid from Qatar and France to the Gaza Strip.
The two planes carry 61 tons of aid, including medicines and foodstuffs, bringing the total number of Qatari planes carrying aid to Gaza since October 7 to 63 planes, with a total of 1,958 tons of aid.
The Qatari statement said the agreement was mediated by Qatar in cooperation with France, adding that Doha’s mediation between Israel and Hamas would continue “within the framework of Qatari efforts to bring about an end to the war in Gaza.”
