Hamas Movement on Tuesday called on the United Nations and its institutions, the International Committee of the Red Cross and the World Health Organization to take immediate action and assume their responsibilities towards the Israeli direct targeting of Nasser Medical Complex and Al-Amal Hospital in the city of Khan Younis.
Hamas warned in a statement that the Israeli aggression on hospitals “puts the lives of patients, medical staff, and thousands of displaced people at risk.”
The Movement affirmed that this deliberate and continuous targeting of hospitals amounts to a war crime that is committed in front of the entire world and as part of the Israeli genocidal war against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, with absolute support of the US administration, which is a complicit partner in the genocide.
Ministry of Health spokesman, Dr. Ashraf Al-Qudra, confirmed that the Israeli occupation forces are besieging Nasser Medical Complex and endangering the lives of staff, patients, and the displaced.
Al-Qudra pointed out that medical teams could not transfer critical cases from Nasser Medical Complex to the Jordanian field hospital, adjacent to it, because of the continuous bombardment.
He called for urgent intervention to defend Nasser Medical Complex and Al Amal Hospital and to facilitate the movement of ambulances to and from the two hospitals.
