Head of Hamas’s political bureau Ismail Haneyya has said that his Movement will study and respond to the proposal relayed to it following the recent Paris meeting regarding a ceasefire in Gaza and the release of prisoners.
“The Movement is open to discussing any serious and practical initiatives or ideas, provided that they lead to a complete cessation of aggression, the provision of shelters for our people who were forcibly displaced and whose homes were destroyed as a result of the occupation’s actions, the reconstruction of what had been destroyed, the lifting of the siege, and the achievement of a serious prisoner exchange deal that ensures the freedom of our heroic prisoners and ends their suffering,” Haneyya said in a statement on Tuesday.
Haneyya expressed his appreciation to Egypt and Qatar for the efforts they make to reach a sustainable ceasefire agreement in Gaza as a prelude to ending the aggression against the Palestinian people in Jerusalem and the West Bank.
The Hamas leader said he received an invitation to visit Cairo in order to discuss the framework agreement proposed by the parties that met in Paris and the requirements for its implementation according to a comprehensive vision that meets the Palestinian people’s national interests.
He also talked about the ongoing Israeli genocide in Gaza and the events in the West Bank, stressing the need for international action to pressure the Israeli occupation regime to stop its massacres and war crimes in Gaza as well as the serious violations and killings that happen on a daily basis in the West Bank.
